What topics are covered?
Exciting efforts from all areas of plant biology will be presented. At the past several ASPB Midwest Meetings, attendees have learned about novel efforts involving ecological restoration, molecular cladistics, inspiring educational tools and techniques, hydrogen production, cell wall infrastructure, oenology, phytoremediation, hormonal signaling, global gene networks, natural products generation, chromatin remodeling, biotechnological innovations, disease and stress tolerance, field crop breeding, biofortification, space biology (which is really out there), and far more! We look forward to hearing about your work at the next meeting!

The ASPB Midwest Meeting provides scientists at all career stages and position types opportunities to discuss research efforts, teaching programs, administrative circumstances, funding scenarios, career designs, and other topics influencing plant biology.

Learn how to present your research efforts
An essential trait for all scientists is to effectively and efficiently describe, explain, and promote their research efforts. The ASPB Midwest Meeting provides ample opportunities for maturing plant biologists to develop this capacity in oral and/or poster formats. Attendees are highly encouraged to submit poster or talk abstracts when registering.

A rewarding experience
For both poster and talk presenters, you will find the ASPB Midwest Meeting a receptive, understanding, and developmental experience. In addition, there are numerous honors (monetary and certificate) awarded for talk and poster presentations given by undergraduate and graduate students that are judged as being of superior quality.
2027 Meeting
The 2027 ASPB Midwest Meeting will be held jointly with the next Great Lakes Plant Science Conference, taking place April 9-11, 2027, in Lansing, Michigan!
GLPSC & ASPB Midwest 2027
Building on the success of the inaugural Great Lakes Plant Science Conference (GLPSC) in 2025 and previous ASPB Midwest Section Meetings, this event will bring together leading voices across plant science disciplines and next-generation leaders to shape the future of plant science in the Midwest Great Lakes region.
Scientists at all career stages are encouraged to present their work via posters and talks, with a focus on providing opportunities for early-career researchers. Professional development activities will explore careers, and outstanding student presentation prizes will be awarded.
