Travel award applications (part of the abstract submission process) must be received on or before February 14.
Statement of Purpose:
The Midwest Section of the American Society of Plant Biologists is committed to professional development for students and postdoctoral associates by providing a stimulating venue for scientific discussions for all plant biologists. To enhance participation, particularly for members of groups traditionally underrepresented at scientific conferences, the MW-ASPB Travel Grant Fund will provide assistance to participants in order to present their work at the annual section meeting.
All members of the Midwest Section of ASPB are eligible for the awards. Please make certain that your membership to ASPB is current and pay your section dues prior to submission of your application. Not a current member of ASPB? Join today!
Applications will be reviewed by the Midwest Section Meeting Organizing Committee and awarded based on need, type of presentation (participants giving talks will be given priority), and distance and cost of travel.
The application is part of the abstract submission form, and consists of the following three questions:
- What do you hope to gain from attending this meeting?
- What other sources of funding are available to support your attendance?
- One goal of this meeting is to increase diversity and broaden inclusivity of the participants. Do you feel that you belong to a group that has been traditionally underrepresented at scientific conferences?
Successful applicants will be notified by e-mail prior to February 28th.
